Five – Elements Qigong – 3 hour ZOOM class (OBMT approved for 3 CE’s in self-care)

Course Description:  Qigong means “energy work”.  Qigong is a culturally based process for improving body awareness, body mechanics, mindful movement and critical thinking, along with creating connection to nature, self, and others who practice with you.  Cultural influences are discussed while the kinesthetic effects are experienced in this 3-hour class. This Traditional Chinese Medicine based practice of “gonging”, or cultivating, qi (energy) builds energy resources, heals the organs, expands the breath, and increases immunity and strength.  Practicing and learning in a group of like-minded people brings a powerful healing force to our suffering world.

Beginners and experienced practitioners can benefit from this class.  Forms are easy to learn and practice can be adapted to a seated position and for medical conditions.  Regular and consistent practice builds powerful healing and develops keen attention to body, mind, heart and soul.

Build cultural awareness and community by learning and practicing Qigong in a group.  This class presents theoretical underpinnings and kinesthetic understanding of a five elements Qigong form that is traditionally used to heal emotions and move stuck and stagnant energy to speed healing.

The Five Elements (or 5 changes) are rooted in Daoist philosophy and describe natural influences; wood, water, fire, metal and earth. Almost every phenomenon can be understood as an expression of these five elements: emotions, phases of life, compass directions, different types of food, parts of the human body, colors. When the five elements are balanced inside, we feel happy, healthy and whole.

We will explore:

  • Traditional Chinese Theory underlying the five elements or forces of nature
  • Interrelationships between the five elements, the five yin organs and their yang counterparts and frequencies of colors, sounds, imagery (animals) and emotions
  • Opportunity to practice the Five elements form for emotional and physical preventative care
