Course Description: This course presents massage therapists with processes and tools to hear and help clients with Pain process their stories about Pain. Inquiry into Pain Stories strengthens therapeutic rapport and helps clients and therapists move beyond irrational thoughts such as fear, worry and anger that challenge the healing process. Through detecting and deactivating counterproductive stories about Pain, therapists strengthen rapport and connection while encouraging patients challenged by Pain. This class applies current theories to practical skill-building exercises that help LMT’s maintain scope of practice and other therapeutic boundaries.
