Qigong Basics – 3 hour ZOOM class (OBMT approved for 3 CE’s in self-care)
Course Description: Qigong means “energy work”. This class presents a culturally based introduction to the Traditional Chinese Medicine based practice of “gonging”, or cultivating, qi (energy). The movement form can be used by massage therapists for improving body awareness, body mechanics, mindfulness in movement, along with connecting to nature, self, and others who practice together. This basic Qigong form has roots in Asian culture so cultural images are imparted while kinesthetic effects are experienced in this 3-hour class. Discussion follows to deepen the understanding. Practicing Qigong and cultivating (energy) in a group builds energy resources, heals the organs, expands the breath and increases immunity and strength while bringing a powerful healing force to our suffering world.
Both beginners and experienced practitioners can benefit from this class. Forms are easy to learn and can be adapted for seated practice or medical limitations. Regular and consistent practice stimulates powerful healing and builds keen attention to enhance your connectedness with the natural world, sense of safety and grounding, and improve your general quality of life.
Build cultural awareness and community by learning and practicing Qigong with others. This class presents foundations of Qigong Theory with a preventative health care Qigong form for developing inner resources, healing, and growth.
We will explore:
- The role Qigong has to play in massage treatment including forms that address specific complaints
- How to integrate Qigong into your practice
- Opportunity to practice an all-purpose Qigong form that can be used for self-care and preventative health
